Encouraging open and honest talk about periods

Boney Hay Primary Academy

Friday 13th certainly wasn't an unlucky day for our host school Boney Hay Primary Academy in Burntwood. They had a great day on the betty bus. They were joined by Holly Grove Primary School and Gentleshaw Primary School.

All the girls from all three schools responded well to the workshops. They asked questions freely and contributed fully and comfortably, often offering own experiences, during the discussions.

The students' feedback: "The Betty Bus was amazing and all the time I was intrigued and I've learned loads"

"Many facts and descriptions and very understandable. I loved how you explained what periods are. This was very factual and fun"

"I leant a lot of things and all our questions were answered. I enjoyed how on the Betty Bus you can ask any questions."

"I thought it would be scary, but it was actually fun and I learnt stuff! Thanks for giving me a unique experience."

The teachers had some lovely feedback for us: "Very warm, friendly environment to make the girls feel relaxed and able to ask questions without feeling silly or intimidated"

"Lovely accessible experience. Girls were very focused. A lovely way for them to learn about this aspect of their bodies."
